PEORIA – Mildred V. Allen, 96, passed away on June 23, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at her residence in Gaastra, MI.

Mildred was born on December 4, 1915 in Monica, IL to Elmer and Grace (Jenness) Bristol. She married Robert J. Allen on January 1, 1936 in Peoria. He passed away on July 11, 1994.

Also preceding her in death were two daughters Kathy Grace Allen and Donna Schlicker, three brothers, four sisters, and one great-grandchild.

Mildred is survived by two sons Robert J. Jr. (Cindy) of Gaastra, MI and Donald E. (Teresa) of Widener, AR; one daughter Roberta Matheny of Evening Shade, AR; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one sister Dorothy Moody of Pekin.

She was employed by Holy Family School as a cook and was a life-long homemaker and mother.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Deacon Thomas Mueller will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2012 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iron County Cancer Unit.
